The first to anchor at Otok are the students from Istrian elementary and high schools

As part of the the Submarine youth program at the Kino Otok – Isola Cinema festival, we offer Istrian preschools, elementary schools, and high schools—with both Slovenian and Italian as languages of instruction—a diverse selection of feature-length and short films from Slovenian and other European film industries every year.

Through various cinematic styles, the films engage children between the ages of 3 and 18, who, after the screening, have the opportunity to share their impressions of what they’ve seen with their peers and gain a deeper understanding of the world of moving images through in-depth discussions led by our film educators.
