How It Grows… 3
How It Grows… 3 (4+)
Ema Muc, Slovenia, 2026, 20′, in Slovene
Crawling, slithering, splashing, jumping, swimming, fluttering, climbing, flying, hopping—while growing bigger and bigger! New episodes of the popular animated series, based on the beloved picture books by illustrator Ajda Erznožnik, portray the life cycles of a dolphin, wolf, beaver, and octopus.

How It Grows… Dolphin
A dolphin is born in the sea. It curiously explores the marine world. With each passing day, it becomes faster, wittier and more courageous — until one day it grows into an adult dolphin.
How It Grows… Beaver
By the river, a little beaver bravely steps into the world through playing in the water, cooperative building, and its first great adventures. As it grows, the little beaver becomes a skilful builder, finds its place by the river, and starts a family of its own.
How It Grows… Wolf
Towards the end of winter, three wolf cubs are born in a rocky den. The youngest cub grows and develops through play, its first steps in hunting, and discovering the forest world. Time passes, the young wolf grows up and sets off on its own path with a young she-wolf.
How It Grows… Octopus
Deep beneath the sea surface, tiny octopuses hatch from small eggs. One of them curiously swims into the world. When it grows up, it becomes a silent master of hiding, easily squeezing into the tiniest cracks and disappearing into the blue of the sea.
First-hand
»Through mischievous songs and animation, we learn about the development of animals, the different environments they live in, what they eat, and the dangers that await them. We want to ignite the interest of audiences of all ages, especially the youngest viewers, through fascinating stories that we cannot usually observe up close in nature. Let us laugh at the animal adventures and relationships, which are often similar to those of children.« — Ema Muc, director
About the Creators
The series is directed by Ema Muc (Firbcologi (The Quizzicalogists), Studio Kriškraš), an experienced director working on children’s and youth programming at the Radio and Television Corporation of Slovenia. The scripts are written by Sandra Ržen, known for the mini-series Maček Muri (Magic Muri) and Potovanje na ladji Beagle (The Voyage of the Beagle), and Saša Eržen (Kapa (Beanie), Firbcologi (The Quizzicalogists)). With their strong sense of rhythm, repetition, and humour, they create stories carefully adapted for the youngest audience. Jošt Šeško leads the main animation, while Tilen Javornik has created the visual concept, giving the animal world a recognisable, soft and expressive look. The humorous songs that accompany the animal stories are written by Robert Petan, a singer-songwriter from the programme Kaj dogaja (What is Happening?). The role of the narrator is playfully performed by Ajda Toman. The world of the main characters is further enriched by the music of Janez Dovč, whose use of world music elements ensures that nature comes to life not only visually but also through sound.
