Better Go Mad in the Wild
Better Go Mad in the Wild / Raději zešílet v divočině
Miro Remo, Czech Republic, Slovakia, 2025, 84′
The eccentric twin brothers Ondřej and Franta live on a ramshackle farm surrounded by nature, where they spend their days lost in a haze of melancholic memories of times gone by and other intoxicating substances.

In the Czech countryside, within the Šumava National Park, we follow two stubborn old men who have never left their native land, observing their self-sufficiency and mutual dependence, their constant squabbling and their melancholy for the days ‘when women still flocked to them’. We follow a playful portrait of the everyday lives of the twins Ondřej and Franta, peppered with rather absurd moments, who seem never to have grown up. They live in the embrace of nature and claim that death does not exist. The charismatic and talkative brothers radiate a genuine zest for life and energy, which they generously share.
‘In truth, I’m more inspired by feature films than by documentaries, because I’m fascinated by what can be achieved with a camera and editing. I try to blur the line between feature films and documentaries. In feature films, I like the potential of stylised forms; in documentaries, I like the passion, the pursuit of truth, and the sense of adventure. Documentary film is a laboratory; it demands a meticulous working process. I like to interweave both approaches. Better Go Mad in the Wild is, of course, a documentary, but I wanted it to look like a feature film.” – Miro Remo
