Vermiglio, 1944. When a Sicilian deserter arrives in a remote village high in the Italian Alps, the silent young man immediately attracts the attention of the eldest daughter of the local schoolmaster. As the war draws to a close, their love sets in motion a series of events that will change the fate of the girl’s large family forever… A quietly moving, beautifully shot pastoral drama from Italian director Maura Delpero, told in four chapters, set in four seasons.
Maura Delpero was born in Bolzano, Italy. After graduating in literature in Bologna and Paris, she studied dramaturgy and screenplay in Buenos Aires. With her early works, such as Signori professori (2008) and Nadea e Sveta (2012), she explored the limit between fiction and documentary cinema.
